Doha International Airport (DOH)
Sited to the south-east of Doha, nearby the Lulu Hypermarket and within easy reach of Ar Rayyan, the Doha International Airport (DOH) is a small airport that began life as a regional facility. However, a massive multi-million dollar facelift and the expansion of national carrier Qatar Air have put Doha Airport firmly on the international map.
Flights operate to around 80 different international destinations and cities, with Qatar Air handling a significant percentage of all flights. Annual passenger traffic at Doha Airport has more than doubled in the past three years and has now reached ten million.
Major hotels provide shuttle pick ups, while airport taxis and limos offer the only other main transport alternative. Taxis are amongst the most popular way to reach specific destinations in central Doha and beyond, including the city's many sports stadiums and venues, such as the Sports City within the Al Waab neighbourhood and also the acclaimed Khalifa International Stadium in the Ad-Dawha area.
About Doha Tourism
Doha is the capital city of Qatar, a small Middle Eastern country with a population of just less than half million residents. Doha also offers some interesting attractions, which include the Qatar National Museum. This magnificent building was once a palace and is now home to an aquarium and an extensive collection of artefacts that tell of the country's history.
Other places close to Doha Airport (DOH) and worthy of mention include the city fortress, the Ethnographic Museum and Aladdin's Palace amusement park. For evening entertainment, the city is home to a good selection of fine restaurants.
